What is Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow?
Tennis and golfer’s elbow are similar conditions are common among athletes and those having repetitive strain, overusing hands, or having injuries to forearm tendons. Both conditions are epicondylitis, which is inflammation surrounding an epicondyle. Tennis elbow, also called lateral epicondylitis, affects the outer or lateral side of the elbow, which involves bending the wrist backward and straightening fingers. Golfer’s elbow or medial epicondylitis affects the inner or medial side of the elbow, which involves flexing the wrist and making a fist.
Both can cause pain and severe discomfort when using forearm muscles to grasp, lift, or twist objects. It limits the movement of the forearm and wrist on the affected side, which leads to difficulty in various daily activities.
